PoE Exalted Orb Farming - How to Get Rich in Path of Exile

Every Path of Exile player always wonders what is the recipe for getting Exalted Orbs very fast. There are many methods of PoE Exalted Orb farming. Some people are lucky and end up getting Exalted Orbs from farming and some - must put more effort to get the desirable orb. In this guide, I will show you the best and at the same time the fastest ways of getting Exalted Orbs in Path of Exile.

What is an Exalted Orb?

Exalted Orb is the rarest and the most valuable type of Poe currency in Path of Exile. It is responsible for enhancing your piece of rare equipment with new random affixes. Thanks to this type of currency you can make items more stronger. Exalted Orbs can be obtained during mapping, by opening chests or containers which can be easily destroyed during farming. There are also many different methods which I will introduce in the guide. Below, I will show vendor recipes which will help in getting PoE Exalted Orbs considerably faster.

What is Exalted Orb drop rate and at which level I can obtain them?

The drop rate is set at 0,055% and players can obtain them after level 35.

What are vendor recipes for Exalted Orbs?

You can obtain Poe Exalted Shard through trading with NPCs. For one Exalted Orb, you will need 20 shards. While farming, especially when you reach the late late-game, you will be able to drop  Shaper and Elder items. These items may be very valuable in the PoE world. The items which will be considered as „trash” you can save for vendor recipe. If you trade a full set of the shaper or elder items, you can get two or four exalted shards. The full set will be made of following item parts:

•       Two-Handed Weapon (staffs, swords, bows)
•       One-Handed Weapon (swords, maces, sabers) + shield
•       Two One-Handed Weapons (swords, maces, sabers)
•       Two Shields

•       Helmet
•       Gloves
•       Body Armor
•       Belt
•       Amulet
•       Two Rings
•       Boots

If you will trade identified items, you will be able to get only two exalted shards. When items are unidentified, you will get four shards. This will be hard not to identify items, because they may be valuable, so I do not recommend trying to sell the whole set of the shaper or elder items without prior identification.

How to farm Exalted orbs from divination cards trading?

There are 5 Poe divination card recipes which allow you to get Poe currency called Exalted Orbs. Divination Cards drop during farming, or from special stashes in Poe. In order to exchange divination cards, you need a specific amount of a particular type of cards. When you gather the required amount of cards you can exchange them in vendor located in every town. Recipes are the following:

•       12 x The Hoarder give you one Exalted Orb
•       10 x The Saint’s Treasure are equal two Exalted Orbs
•       5 x Abandoned Wealth give you three Exalted Orbs
•       7 x Alluring Bounty give you ten Exalted Orbs
•       5 x Emperor’s Luck - drops random type of currency (it includes Exalted Orbs)

How to get Exalted Orbs from trading different goods? Tips and tricks.

Path of Exile offers various ways of trading. In PoE, you can trade gear, maps, unique jewels, fossils, etc. If you are looking for a nice and easy way of getting Exalted Orbs in poe you can try leveling skill gems. It is a method from which I always get my first orbs. In the PoE Legion league Cyclone skill gem is very valuable. The first thing you should do is checking which gem is the most expensive. Then you simply buy three of them, put it into the secondary weapon,  level it up and sell to other players. Sometimes you can get even 15 exalted orbs for one leveled PoE skill gem if someone is really desperate. Remember to level up the gem, and then increase its quality by using gemcutter prism currency.

How to exchange lower grade currency with other players? Currency flipping.

Next, a very good method of farming Exalted Orbs in PoE is exchanging lower grade currency with other players. The price for the exalted orb depends on the league that you are playing in. It is important to do it with players, not NPC’s. While selling your lower-tier currency to NPC, you will not get much profit.

Currency flipping is very useful when you do not want to craft gear on your own and just buy everything from other players. If you think that in the late game you will do some pieces of equipment on your own, I recommend saving your currency instead of flipping it.

Farming Exalted orbs through mapping. Which maps are the best for farming Exalted Orbs?

Basically, you can grind for Exalted Orbs everywhere. It has a very low drop rate but can be obtained from every mob. However, there is a place which gives you more chance of getting orbs. People use this tactic to speed farm currency. This method might be boring but it will give you a nice profit if you are lucky. You will need to make a single map over and over again. The map name is Burial Chambers. Why you have to farm this particular map? Because there is a chance to drop an item called The Doctor card. The card is needed for making the Headhunter belt. Such card costs around 20 exalted orbs. It is not the most efficient method of currency farming, but a very good one. Additionally, you gain good experience on this map, so you combine business with pleasure.  

Uber Elder and Guardian maps

Next, a very popular method of farming poe currency is doing guardian maps. For this method, you will need to save a nice reserve of guardian maps. Remember that PoE guardian maps are not always occupied by the elder guardian. When you finally run the map with a guardian, you will have your drop rate increased. You can choose not to spawn elder and keep farming the guardians, or spawn elder and get a chance of getting a lot of currency. If you reach uber elder quickly, especially early in the league, you can do it as much as possible. Every drop from an uber elder is very expensive at the early stage of every path of exile league. Farming elder will cost you around 1 exalted orb, but there is a possibility of getting 20 orbs. The PoE uber elder runs are very profitable when you going to make at least 20 in a chain. It is also very important to be sure that you can kill an elder without any problems. If not it is not worthy of spending currency for such a method.

Creating magic find build

The penultimate method is to make magic find build which will highly increase the income when mapping, farming higher tier instances and currency items. It is slightly hard to make perfect magic find build, because such builds often lack any survivability or damage, but if you manage to do this, you will be a very rich person. I highly recommend making magic find Cyclone build. It is amazing for mapping because it clears maps very fast because of its mechanics. Also if you use proper gems, your single target damage will smash bosses and elite opponents. Below I will show you which items are the best for magic find build.

•       Sadima’s Touch - these gloves increase your elemental damage and quantity of items found. Perfect for this build.
•       Perandus Blazon - good survivability booster, all attributes and an additional quantity of items found will be ideal for this build
•       Goldwyrm - expensive boots but they give you up to 20% to the quantity of items found. It is a lot compared to other items. The mandatory item for this build.
•       Thief’s Torment - Perfect ring which increases the quantity of items found by 10%. It makes you wear only one ring, but the rest of the attributes compensate it.
•       Greed’s Embrace - the best body armor for magic find build. It not only increases the quantity of items found but also their rarity. What is more, to keep farming fast, your movement speed will be increased.

Can corrupting items give me good exalted orbs outcome?

Of course, it can. By corrupting items you are not only increasing their power but also their value. Let us take tabula rasa robe into consideration. Normally it costs 10 chaos orbs which are 1/15 of an Exalted Orb. There is a possibility to get corrupted Tabula rasa with 40% increased damage. After you reach such corruption it will cost 1 exalted orb. The same situation - with gems. You can level up the gem and then try to corrupt it. If you will be lucky, the gem price will be highly increased. Why it gives you such an outcome? Because people are afraid of losing their pieces of equipment or skill gems. If you fail item corrupting, it can disappear from your inventory.

Trading items on poe.market

The last and the best way of farming currency is simply selling your goods on the Path of Exile market. During your journey within the game, you will find many valuable items which can be sold to other players. I do not recommend using the community trading chat in the game. There are many people in the community who will try to scam you and buy goods for an undervalued price. The first thing you should do after finding a unique or higher grade item is to go on poe.market and look at the lowest price of it. The same situation is with currency flipping. You can look which currency is the most valuable and trade it, first for chaos orbs and then when you gather the required amount, for exalted orbs. 

There is also the possibility to look for occasions. To simplify it, as in real life, you can look for things which you can buy for a lower price and then sell them for a higher price. This method is only for people that actually know the game and the Path of Exile economic system. It is always good to look for six socketed items. Then try to use on fusing orb on it. If you are lucky, you will get six links. Then you can sell it in every town vendor for one divine orb. The divine orbs cost sits around 17-20 chaos orbs in Legion league so it is 1/8 of the exalted orb. Remember not to use more than one fusing. It is a waste of currency. If you fail, just sell this item for 7 jeweler’s orbs. Collect at least 100 jeweler’s orb and then flip it to orbs of fusing. Two fusing orbs are worth one chaos in Legion league. With some small steps here and there, you will get your Exalted orb faster than you think :)
