It’s a great week for every fan and every single player of Defense of the Ancients 2, known to the wider audience as DotA 2. We’ve got a new gamemode that seems to be quite popular in the community, and sixteen teams from all over the world have traveled to Moscow to take part in the Epicenter Major Tournament and compete for an enormous 1.000.000 dollar prize pool. 

The main event takes place between June 22nd and June 30th. Qualifiers had been happening for quite some time to pick the best of the best for this tournament. Two teams each have been chosen from CIS, Southeast Asia, North, and South America. Three teams each from China and Europe, and two teams - winner and runner up to the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor S2.

Epicenter Major Tournament Playoffs 2019

Sixteen teams have been divided into four teams for the Group Stage. Every game will play out as a “Best of 3”. Top two teams from each group will join the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the bottom two teams advance to the lower bracket, to support the Double-Elimination tournament format. Playoffs will take place between June 24th and June 30th, with the final three days of the tournament being held in front of a live audience at the CSKA Arena.

All games leading up to the Grand Finals except Lower Bracket Round 1 will be played with a “Best of 3” format. Matches during the first round in the lower bracket will be based on singular matches.

 

Grand Finals that will happen on the last day, on June 30th will be played in a “Best of 5” with both teams competing for a 1st Place prize of 350,000 USD. Top three teams below the winner of the Grand Finals, on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place will be granted respectively $170,000, $100,000, and $80,000, with additional DPC Points that count towards invites to
“DotA 2 International” Tournament in 2019.
