PUBG Weapon Stats - Check Out the Damage Charts!
PUBG Weapon Stats
All shooters, especially the newer ones, include a wide variety of weapons. Different guns will often require the players to adapt to different playstyles. The list of important stats is really long and it includes things like aim, range, shooting speed, magazine size and many others will affect the optimal strategies when using certain types of guns. Every person who ever played any type of shooter understands the differences between camping in a safe spot with a sniper rifle and running around with a shotgun trying to blow up enemies from close range.
PUBG is not an exception and it offers over 30 weapons for players to kill opponents with. They’re divided into a few relatively standard categories. After all, the game is relatively down to earth, even if it’s not the most hyper-realistic game out there. The weapon types are Assault Rifles (AR), Designated Marksman Rifles (DMR), Submachine Guns (SMG), Light Machine Guns (LMG), Shotguns and Sniper Rifles. Moreover, there’s the signature Crossbow, multiple throwable items, melee weapons, and pistols that are mostly used as secondary weapons.
PUBG Best Weapons
Over the course of multiple matches, you’re likely to discover some of your favorite guns and playstyles. That being said, you might not be able to get them in every mode and game. Surviving on the map with what the game gives you and clawing your way to better gear and more ammo are some of the main trademarks of the battle royale genre. Even if you survive for a long time and loot tons of supplies, there’s no guarantee that you’ll find your favorite weapon. That’s why you should learn to be proficient with multiple different guns. It’s the best way to consistently do well.
Of course, even with that mindset we all still have favorites. Swapping to your favorite Assault Rifle whenever it’s available to you is perfectly understandable. The problems begin if you’re unable to succeed unless the game gives you the exact weapons that you want.
As we already mentioned, all PUBG weapons have multiple important statistics that you can take into account while analyzing them. The weapon system and damage calculations are quite complex and there’s a lot of data to take into consideration. Let’s take a look at some of the most important PUBG stats:
PUBG gun stats
Damage (DMG) – this one is quite simple. It’s the base damage value that a weapon would deal. It’s modified by the body part that you’re hitting, your target’s armor and the distance of the shot.
Initial Bullet Speed – it’s also referred to as the bullet velocity. It’s not something that matters all that much, but the differences in bullet speed between guns can get quite big. This means that bullets shot from certain guns will hit their marks significantly quicker than others. Since PUBG is not an extremely realistic game, the bullet speed of most weapons is slightly lower than in real life. This makes dodging bullets more manageable and makes it more difficult to hit a moving target.
Body Hit Impact Power (BHIP) – as you probably noticed, if your character gets hit while aiming, they will flinch and lose track of their target. What you might not know, is that certain weapons can throw your aim off harder than others. This mechanic is entirely decided by the Body Hit Impact Power.
Zero Distance – the range at which your bullet’s trajectory should be perfectly straight. If your target is further than the weapon’s zero range, you may have to adjust your aim for the potential bullet drop. The standard Zero Distance for most weapons is 100 meters.
Time Between Shots (TBS) – that’s completely self-explanatory, some guns are much faster than the others.
Spread (SPR) – it’s the amount of recoil that you experience while firing your weapon. The low spread allows the player to hit multiple shots on a target in quick succession. There are quite a few ways of decreasing that problem. First of all, mods like grips and muzzles can decrease your weapons recoil and improve steadiness. Besides, it’s less problematic if you’re aiming down sight. Finally, taking the shots as you prone or crouch is a great way to increase stability.
Recoil – it’s the factor that causes the Spread. Guns with higher recoil are more difficult to control if you want to hit multiple shots in a row.
Deviation (DEV) – it’s an additional Spread modifier that only works when you’re not aiming down side. It introduces a bit more randomness to the shots that weren’t taken very carefully. A weapon with higher Deviation will be more affected by RNG, unless you’re going to use a sight or scope.
Range – the maximum distance that a bullet can travel while also dealing any damage. Of course, at some point, the bullet drop will come into play and the damage will start to fall off. These problems become more meaningful in the case of the extremely long-distance shots.
Sway – this stat determines the amount of gun movement when you’re aiming down sight. As you probably noticed, there are no weapons that stand perfectly still as you’re aiming. Sway somewhat compensates for lack of Deviation, but it doesn’t include RNG.
Rarity – some weapons are harder to come by than others. It doesn’t have a direct influence on their combat statistics, but the rarer guns tend to be more worthwhile. There currently are three rarity tiers in PUBG weapons: Common, Uncommon, and Rare.
There are some more small stats and modifiers that exist in-game. The stats like Recoil, Spread, and Deviation are quite complex and they consist of multiple factors. We’re not going to dive that deep in this article, but feel free to do further research if you’re interested in that stuff. The general understanding of the PUBG weapon stats that we already discussed is more than enough to know what to do during a match. After all, PUBG is all about skill-expression, and crunching the numbers can only get you so far.

PUBG Damage Calculations
Just like many other shooters, PUBG bullets deal different amounts of damage based on the body part that they hit. The game identifies ten distinguished areas: head, neck, clavicles, upper chest, lower chest, stomach, pelvis, upper limb, lower limb, and hand/foot. The percentages are more or less the same for every gun, but there are additional modifiers for specific weapon types.
There are some obvious general rules that apply to all of them. Hits on the head and neck will always be the most devastating – the damage is significantly higher than the base value. Hitting the torso area will result in dealing damage that’s close to the weapon’s base – the upper chest is a bit more valuable and stomach damage being slightly reduced. Finally, hitting the limbs is the least efficient – upper part of the limb takes 60% of base damage, while hands and feet are only hit for 30%.
Beyond that, we also have to take armor into consideration. When you hit an armored body part, the final damage is reduced by a fixed percentage. There are three levels of armor. Level 1 absorbs 30% of incoming damage, level 2 reduces 40% and level 3 takes away 55%.
PUBG weapon attachments
There are five types of weapon attachments in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The first one is called Muzzle – it features all types of suppressors, compensators et cetera. Lower Rail features various weapon grips. Upper Rail is reserved for all the scopes and sights. Then, there are Magazines (that include a quiver for the crossbow). Finally, we have weapon stocks. Of course, you can use a weapon without any attachments, but they're generally positive additions.
Muzzle attachments can reduce spread, recoil and deviation. Moreover, some of them are able to eliminate the flash and reduce the weapon sound.
Lower Rail modifiers are mainly focused on improving the weapon control and stability. They can decrease recoil, sway and spread and increase the ADS speed (accelerate the animation of aiming down sight).
Upper Rail attachments help with aiming. They’re especially useful for the long range weapons. While sights are much less useful for sniping, they can actually increase your ADS speed. Scoper on the other hand will be extremely useful for sniper rifles, but they’ll actually slow down the ADS animation.
Magazines are rather self-explanatory. They can provide two types of bonuses. Extended magazines increase the bullet capacity. Quick draw ones make you reload faster. If you’re lucky, you can get a magazine with both of those features.
Stocks are the last category of weapon attachments. They can reduce the reload duration and decrease the negative effects like sway and recoil. They’re only available for a few weapons in the entire game.

Assault Rifles
Similarly to many other shooters, PUBG Assault Rifles are a very strong and versatile category of weapons. They’re relatively fast and they work extremely well in medium-range combat.

As you can see, the damage differences aren’t that massive, but when you start calculating the 235% headshot damage and the damage reduction from armor, it can actually make the difference between knocking an enemy down with a single shot and letting them escape with low HP.
Of course, you can modify some of these stats with various attachments, but the base vales should give you a general idea about each weapon. There are some additional important things to consider. Accessibility can be an issue – Assault Rifles are not that easy to get and some of them are even more difficult to find. Groza offers remarkable DPS (damage per second), but you can only find it in crates. Then, you should think about the attachment compatibility and the general feel of each gun.
Designated Marksman Rifles
DMRs are something between an Assault Rifle and Sniper Rifle. They’re quite precise, but they still remain high DPS, fast weapons. The marksman rifles excel at medium to long range combat, but they’re weaker if an opponent manages to get close.

When compared to Assault Rifles, the damage is not that much different. However, the smaller clip size can definitely be noticeable. As we mentioned, the DMRs are more accurate and they work better with scopes.
The hit damage differences in this category are really big and you should keep that in mind. It’s an important factor in determining your optimal strategy. At the same time, good attachments are even more valuable than in case of ARs.
Sniper Rifles
They are the iconic long-range weapons for the whole genre. Sniper Rifles are extremely accurate, high damage weapons. Moreover, they have the highest headshot bonus in the game (250%). Whenever you’re using them, the goal is to move as rarely as possible, scout for potential targets and eliminate them with single shots. While Sniper Rifles are the best weapons to use from a long distance, they’re really slow and pretty much useless for any other type of combat. Just hide away from your targets, aim, and click the button on the right time. It's the best way to enjoy collecting new frags with a sniper rifle.

Yes, we know that having the classic Winchester 1894 hunting rifle as a Sniper Rifle is pretty weird, but that’s how it’s categorized in the game. The damage differences between the SRs are relatively significant, but it’s all about accuracy anyway. Interestingly enough, the AWM can knock down unarmored enemies with a single shot even if you don’t hit them in the head. It’s easily the best gun in this category, but it’s also the most difficult one to find. That being said, even the weaker Sniper Rifles can be extremely useful, especially if you manage to get a good scope and land some headshots.
Submachine Guns
SMGs have the highest average fire rate in the entire game. They’re not the most accurate weapons, but they can work extremely well in close-range combat.

Submachine Guns have a single, really interesting feature. While their headshot damage multiplier is only 180%, they’re the only weapon type that benefits from hitting the enemies’ limbs. This bonus damage, combined with high fire rate and the fact that torso and head are often protected by armor creates an interesting situation. When you’re playing with a SMG, it doesn’t really matter what body parts you’re hitting, as long as you’re landing the shots. At the same time, your accuracy gets significantly worse if you’re not close to your target and you have to be very mindful of ammo management.
Light Machine Guns
Essentially, they’re a step between Assault Rifles and SMGs. They’re relatively quick, high damage weapons with large magazines. They’re high DPS guns that excel at close to mid-range combat. At the moment, there are only two LMGs in the entire game.

Light Machine Guns are a small, but useful gun category. They’re a great option if you want to focus on eliminating enemies in close combat, but also present some threat from longer range. The high damage and clip size provide these guns with some great burst possibilities, even if you’re outnumbered. The general playstyle is somewhat similar to the SMGs, but you don’t get the bonus damage from hitting limbs.
Shotguns
To no one’s surprise, shotguns are the extremely powerful, slow weapons that's only effective in really close range. They pack a really powerful punch - when you’re using a shotgun, you should be knocking down an enemy every time you pull the trigger.

Shotguns are relatively difficult to play with, since you really have to utilize cover really well in order to reach enemies with a range advantage. DBS is a really powerful shotgun, but it’s only available as a crate weapon. Sawed-Off is an interesting option, since it can be used in the secondary weapon slot instead of a pistol. It’s a great emergency weapon if you’re playing with a Sniper Rifle or a DMR in your main slot.
Pistols
Pistols are the most important secondary weapons in PUBG. However, getting a decent primary gun is relatively easy, which makes the pistols overall not that useful. They’re not accurate from long range, while also not having that great DPS, due to the low rate of fire - you can see the numbers in the table below. That being said, they might be useful in some situations and it’s good to understand the differences between all the available pistols.

As you can see the differences in single-shot damage and time between shots are really big in this category. Even with the unimpressive headshot bonus, weapons like the Desert Eagle, R1895, and R45 can eliminate enemies really quickly, especially when they don’t have any armor. That being said, you’ll most likely be better off using designated primary weapons in most situations. The Flare Gun is also categorized as a pistol, but it doesn’t deal any damage so we didn’t include it in the damage chart.
Crossbow
Crossbow deserves its own weapon category. It’s a slow, relatively low-range weapon that deals a lot of damage with a single bolt. You can one-shot enemies if you hit them in the head or torso. It also offers a really interesting tactical advantage of being completely silent. Crossbow has a base damage of 105 with some really good bonus multipliers. Bolts will drop significantly harder than bullets – they also have a lower projectile speed, so keep that in mind while trying to kill enemies from a distance. In general, the Crossbow is an interesting and powerful weapon (the damage stats are really nice) that’s quite difficult to use. It requires a specific playstyle and has a very long reload time.
Throwable weapons
The throwables are an important and powerful part of PUBG. They can provide some damage and multiple types of utility. There currently are five types of throwable items within the game: Frag Grenade, Molotov Cocktail, Smoke Grenade, Sticky Bomb, and Stun Grenade.
Frag Grenade – the fragmentation grenade is the most standard, damage-focused throwable weapon. Using it is a two-part process, it requires pulling the pin and throwing the grenade. The windup time is 5 seconds. If you throw right after pulling the pin, your opponents will have more time to react. This may allow them to find a cover from the explosion and shrapnel. Holding onto the grenade for 2-3 seconds after pulling the pin is the riskier, but potentially more rewarding play.
Molotov Cocktail – a throwable item that can be used to set the area of effect on fire. Once again, we’re looking at a two-part process. At first, you have to set the fuse ablaze, then you throw to bottle to the target location. While you definitely can use them to try and kill an opponent or force them to move, the Molotov Cocktails offer some more great possibilities that are often neglected by many players. You can throw it into a chokepoint to cut off an escape path or prevent an opponent from following you. They’re a great zoning tool if you use them strategically.
Smoke Grenade – utility items that create a smokescreen. You should always use them to hide from the opponents and not the other way around. This dense smoke can provide extra safety as you’re looting crates or trying to reach a vehicle.
Sticky Bomb – an interesting weapon that can be attached to almost any surface in the game and later detonated to kill an unsuspecting enemy. They allow the players to create deadly traps and introduce a whole new tactical aspect to the game.
Stun Grenade – it’s the traditional flashbang that greets the opponents with a loud explosion and temporarily blinds them. These disoriented enemies are much easier targets to eliminate. Stun Grenades are best used before engaging in full-on combat.

Melee Weapons
Melee weapons are not exactly the most valuable tools in PUBG. They’re mostly used “for the memes” and you rarely see anyone doing it out of necessity. After all, most players have a strong primary weapon and at least a decent pistol on them at all times. If you run out of ammo on both of them, you can always try to kill someone in melee as a last ditch effort, but it basically doesn’t happen.
There are four melee weapons in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: Crowbar, Machete, Pan and Sickle. Pan has the base damage of 80, the remaining ones have 60. Melee weapons have the lowest bonus for hitting the enemy in the head, but they get a multiplier to limb damage, similarly to SMGs.
PUBG Weapons
As we already established, you’re going to have to master multiple PUBG weapons in order to become really good at the game. The most powerful guns can only be gotten from the loot crates and you’re likely going to have to survive a few combat encounters before you’re able to find them. Learning the feel and possibilities of each weapon can be a huge asset during your matches. Remember that the PUBG damage chart is not everything to take into consideration - things like accuracy and attachment compatibility also are extremely important. Use this knowledge as well as you can, loot the best PUBG weapons available and get that chicken dinner!
